Since 4:40pm today I've been thinking about what my next post would be. Like always I was over thinking things and here comes friend with the simplest, humblest comment "Tita I need help with basic makeup shopping." My friend is on this whole new journey in her life reinventing herself wardrobe, makeup, and body; she lost 10lbs! And, since she is new to the whole makeup game telling her to buy some black eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara seems a little too harsh for a beginner. So to all you ladies out there who are new to makeup as well or find yourself reinventing your persona take out your memo pads and write these tips down.
(Click the links to go to the direct product).FOUNDATIONPresuming that you've never worn foundation a tinted moisturizer is the best way to go. Though most tinted moisturizers, the good ones anyways, range from $11-$40 at even at drugstores, why not make your own?

A a great, great tip for beginners is to buy a liquid foundation and mix it with your favorite face cream; make sure your face cream or foundation has SPF, the higher the number the better to protect you from the sun rays. Use an empty cream cheese container or buy a small container with a lid and dump in your whole liquid foundation bottle and your face cream; mix it well. Make sure to use more foundation than face cream but if you see that you need more lotion just add more.
As far as what foundation goes I recommend CoverGirl. If you have sensitive skin they have no fragrance foundation; great for rocasea (post on different skin types will be on friday). I use the original foundation Clean Makeup from CoverGirl, $7, at
cvs, which works wonders on anyone
BLUSHThe next part is your blush. I would normally recommend a rosy blush but then we'd have to get into the different shades of rose for different skin tones therefore I'm subbing in peach tones because they go great on any skin color. Take this Pretty Peach blush by, once again, CoverGirl, $5,
cvs.com, apply it to the apples of your cheeks.

Apples? I know sounds silly but when you smile you'll see the apples, which are the roundest part on your cheeks. Apply blush starting in the middle of the apples not where it starts.
EYESHADOW- Most people are weary when wearing eyeshadow for the first time. Most of the time they say they looks like clowns, which is understandable for a beginner. This is why I highly suggest that all beginners dab their finger in their blush and apply it to the eyelid only.
MASCARA- For beginners I would recommend a brown mascara if you're scared of black looking to jawry and especially if you have blonde lashes brown would be black for you. Take your mascara wand and while you applying the mascara to your lashes smudge in the mascara. This "excess" mascara will work as an eyeliner so no need to buy eyeliner. If you make mistakes take a Q-tip and twist away the mistake. My personal favorite and highly recommend is Maybelline's Volume Express Colossal Mascara that little guy gives ANY eyelash an instant volume $8, cvs. Make sure it's NOT waterproof.
LIPS- Chapstick or
- A clear lipgloss
